(NASHVILLE, January 11th) - State Representative Sheila Butt (R-D64) was among the 99 members of the Tennessee House of Representatives taking the oath of office this week in Nashville.  The oath was administered on the second Tuesday of January as our State Constitution dictates.  State lawmakers began immediately organizing the business of the 107th General Assembly.

“I am honored and humbled that the privilege of serving the citizens of the 64th District has been presented to me. I look forward to the session starting and working hard to represent my constituents,” said Rep. Sheila Butt. “It is an added privilege to be the first woman to serve in this capacity from this District.”

Representative Butt is one of twenty-two new representatives taking the oath. She represents the majority of the people in Maury County.

“I am excited about the opportunities for my district and the great state of Tennessee,” Representative Butt continued. “We face a lot of challenges. I am eager to begin working to strengthen our business environment to attract jobs to our county. I urge all of us to work together toward the goal of excellence in education in this District. My goal is for Maury County to come to prominence in this State as an example of exceptionalism when people decide not only that they have a voice, but that they will use that voice to strengthen our community. Every one of us has a part to play in order to make that happen” she commented. “I believe that Maury County’s best days are ahead.”
